Book 1 of the Reflections Trilogy
According to the Alliance of Leviathan, the Reflections were founded to determine who among the population were the smartest and strongest– and most capable to lead the nation that covered the globe. Those who won would be given an education at the University, the last college existing in the world. Those who lost would be forgotten, their names, not even engraved on a tombstone, left for only their family members to remember.
Em Gades know what’s coming for her in her life. Even as an orphan, she’s well provided for, with a servant and a bodyguard to keep her safe from the dangers of the rebel citizens of the Alliance. Sure, her parents never were chosen to compete in the Reflections, but they still managed to make enough money for her to live well after their deaths.
Then she receives the silver envelope summoning her to the Reflections. It’s the chance of a lifetime– the possibility of being formally educated, making a name for herself among the handful of Leaders of the Alliance. But the hope is overshadowed by a warning: she may perish if she accepts the opportunity.
Death and deception lie around every corner as Em navigates the complicated relationships and tests of the Reflections, knowing that she has the potential to make something great out of her life– if only it lasts that long.

Celeste has wings, and the wings are the reason everything has gone wrong in her life. Well, actually she is the reason everything is wrong in her life. A five-year-old might go with a stranger who promises to teach her how to fly, but a seventeen-year-old who has wings grafted into her back and is locked in a scientific facility while being considered a WMD regrets that choice every single day. She doesn’t trust herself to make decisions anymore because she knows they’ll turn out badly.
So when her fellow experiments and best friends, Avery and Melia, devise a plan to escape the facility and make their way to the nearby city of Charleston, SC, she goes along with it. It doesn’t take long for them to realize that their former captors, along with the local police and the FBI, are searching for the twelve escaped experiments from Flight Phase, and are determined to capture them, dead or alive.
That is, until Celeste is barely stopped from committing suicide by a rather handsome local, and suddenly there’s a dozen new directions for her mind to go. As the Flight Phase-ers struggle to avoid capture and the world seems to be blowing up around them, Celeste is forced to confront her fears, take the lead, and learn to fly.
